ABOUT THE CREATOR

Sean is an award-winning filmmaker focusing on narrative filmmaking and commercial/documentary projects. His work has been featured on Rolling Stone, Vice/Noisey, Spin, the Chicago Reader, and the Chicago Sun-Times. He's a co-founder of Emulsion Lab, a visual studio focused on developing and producing narrative and documentary films as well as supporting other local filmmakers in their efforts.

Sean has worked mainly as a Cinematographer in the Chicagoland area for over a decade. I Know There's Something Here For You is his first Writing/Directing effort and was produced under Emulsion Lab in collaboration with Union Division and Vacant Films.

“I Know There's Something Here For You was born as a response to my own life long mental health journey and a desire to understand it better. Writing began in a forest in the Pacific Northwest after having a sudden and unnerving vision not unlike the one that takes place in the film. After scribbling the first few pages next to the hiking path I was on, most of the remainder of the script came pretty easy... until I got to the part where I actually had to try and resolve the whole thing.

My biggest hang up in actually finishing this project was trying (or maybe just wanting) to find an "answer to Depression". In earlier iterations, the film found itself meandering down several avenues of "resolution" until landing in its' current state; not so much an answer but rather reflection on a journey towards healing. The past year of my life has paralleled this journey in oddly similar ways and while I obviously have not found an answer for this condition, I believe I have finally begun to discover the tools I need to live alongside it. I hope watching this film inspires you to take the journey you need to find the happiness you deserve.“
